    We currently have an exciting vacancy for a newly created role of Clinical Practice Educator at our hospital. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the L&D team and senior team at site, facilitating education for nurses requiring clinical support and supervision and training a skilled workforce.

    The successful post holder will be critical in preparing nurses from abroad towards their OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) as well as assisting pastorally with any overseas pre-NMC registration nurses. The successful candidate will also be supporting Support Workers and student nurses in clinical environments ensuring that clinical care standards are being maintained and developed across the hospital - nurturing a progressive learning environment for all nursing staff.

    Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is an 87 bedded hospital with two medium and two low secure wards (male and female); we also offer services for men and women who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness, requiring assessment and stabilisation.

    Job Summary:

    • To be a clinical educator and practice facilitator supporting the development of a large cohort of overseas nurses pre NMC registration. To support these nurses in their integration into clinical practice in the UK and ensure they are thoroughly prepared for and achieve the OSCE exam within the necessary time frame.
    • To support all registered nurses, support workers and student nurses and apprentices in the clinical environment.
    • To assist with hospital wide clinical training and development needs of nursing staff which will include teaching on the monthly induction for new starters.
    • To work collaboratively in ensuring Cygnet Stevenage provides a progressive learning environment for all nursing staff.
    • To act an effective role model for best practice nursing.

    Personal specification

    • Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse.
    • Evidence of professional development.
    • Knowledge of the OSCE requirements.
    • Proven leadership skills.
    • Demonstrable clinical skills and experience in mental health settings.
    • Advanced practice skills.

  • Cygnet Hospital Stevenage offers a range of secure mental health services for men and women in a purpose-built therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery.

    Care is provided within a medium secure perimeter. Inside the hospital, everyone has an individual en-suite bedroom and there is outdoor space available for all. There are also a range of additional facilities including a vocational cafe, large indoor gym hall, multi-gym, outdoors football pitch and garden area.

    The aim at Stevenage is to help people learn how to manage their mental health and reinforce their daily living skills, helping to prepare for independent life.
