    Post:  Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist

    Base: Newham House; Middlesbrough.

    Responsible for: Caseload of 12 women onsite and 8 transitional beds, OT Assistant and/or Activity coordinators within each site.

    Responsible to: Band 8 Regional Lead Occupational Therapist

    Hours: 40 hours

    Newham House: 12 bed female (Opening Summer 2020)

    Each unit is a safe and secure place to aid recovery as well as offering those diagnosed with a progressive neurological disease like Huntington’s disease, a longer term placement to support and help manage the progression of their symptoms.

    The hospital is a modern, purpose built facility that has been designed specifically to provide a clinically led evidence based neuropsychiatric pathway for those individuals presenting with behaviours that challenge as a result of ABI or functional neurological disorders.

    As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of patients within the services.

    In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to resident’s diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.

    Prioritisation skills are key to manage the caseload of clients effectively and you will work closely with the patient, carers/family and the team onsite.

    The Successful Candidate should be/have:

    • This role is suitable for Band 6 ready to move to a Band 7 role or a Band 7 OT
    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
    • Experienced in the field of neuropsychiatry  
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
    • Excellent communication and time management skills
    • Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation

    Requirements
    The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
