  • We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Principle Clinical Psychologist to join our psychology service at Cygnet Hospital Bierley in Bradford. We will consider applicants for both full time and part time hours.

    Cygnet Hospital Bierley is a CQC rated Good service which cares for up to 61 people presenting with a range of complex mental health difficulties, across four separate wards: a Female Specialist Personality Disorder Service (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Service); a Low Secure Male Ward, a Low Secure Female Ward; and a Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit.

    We are a supportive and dynamic psychology department, focused on improving service user care and developing innovative practice. Our Psychology Team consists of a Head of Psychology/Consultant Clinical Psychologist, four other Practitioner Psychologists and two Assistant Psychologists.

    The post holder, alongside the Head of Psychology, will provide clinical expertise, supervision and leadership within the psychology team, as well as working as part of and supporting an established MDT. Clinically you will have the opportunity to work with service users from across the different wards, so that your caseload is not restricted to one particular client-group. You will have a manageable, diverse and interesting caseload of both forensic and non-forensic work, as well as DBT and non-DBT work. You will have access to individual, group and peer supervision, and will be supported to further develop your own psychotherapeutic expertise.

    Service development, research, audit and evaluation are strongly valued within the service and the post holder will lead on projects and oversee aspects of service development. The psychology team have regularly disseminating outcomes at conferences and through publications.

    Professional development is also strongly encouraged. The successful candidate may be supported to undertake foundation DBT training, with a view to contributing to our comprehensive DBT programme. You will also be supported to undertake further training appropriate to your role e.g. forensic risk assessment and Positive Behaviour Support.
