    Post: (Band 5) Occupational Therapist

    Base: Cygnet Hospital Colchester

    Responsible for: The provision of Occupational Therapy service in a Male Mental Health Rehabilitation

    Responsible to: Regional Lead Occupational Therapist at Cygnet Hospital Colchester

    Hours: 40 hours per week

    Location: Colchester CO4 5HF

    With over 150 OTs in the company, we also work together as a large team providing support to each other across the group, with various specialist interest groups to tap into, including Mental Health, Neuropsychiatry, Autism, Learning Disabilities and Sensory Integration, to name a few.

    The Male Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, Ramsey, at Cygnet Hospital Colchester has a capacity to take 21 patients and support them through their rehabilitation intervention programme with the view of returning to the community. 


    In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user’s diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.

    Prioritisation skills are key to manage the caseload of clients effectively and you will work closely with the Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary team onsite.

    • OT caseload supported by two OTA’s.

    • National networks of over 150 OTs in the Cygnet Group within different specialisms including Forensic Practice, LD and ASD, Acute mental health, PICU, and inpatient CAMHS

     

    The Successful Candidate should be/have:

    • This role is suitable for a newly qualified occupational therapist
    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) or registering imminently
    • Experienced in the field of adult mental health or PICU environments
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
    • Excellent communication and time management skills
    • Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation
