    Senior Support Worker

    Cygnet Health Care have been providing a national network of high quality specialist mental health services for more than 30 years.

    We are looking for a professional, ambitious and confident Senior Support Worker who is able to lead on shifts and assist the Unit Manager in the day to day management of the service, including management of staff and rotas, administration tasks and providing support to people who live at the service.

    Thornfield Grange is a specialist residential service with nursing for adults living with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs. Based in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, Thornfield Grange supports individuals who have complex behaviours, as well as those who have significant difficulties with social engagement.

     

    Your Day-to-Day…

    You’ll be working on average 42 hours a week on a rota basis in a residential setting with adults with autism and challenging behaviour.

    • Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all our service users, patients & residents
    • Take the lead on shifts and support unit manager run shifts
    •  Undertake formal supervision of support workers and support induction for new workers
    •  Provide guidance and encouragement through physical & emotional support
    • Learn about individuals’ specific needs & provide help in the most appropriate way
    • Assist residents with medical, hygiene and welfare needs and complete relevant administration and reports as required regarding medication or safeguarding
    • Safeguard residents
    • Maintain a safe and clean environment for all

     

    We're looking for people who have: 

    • Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to be a good team player
    • An excellent communicator and a good team player
    • Sensitive and intuitive with the energy required to provide a trusting, stimulating & varied environment
    • Helping to empower & support service user independence.
    • Flexible to work 12 hour shift patterns on a rota basis including nights and weekends
    • NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a relevant care setting is preferable but not essential
