    Cygnet Lodge Salford is our new high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for women. The service supports individuals with a primary diagnosis of mental illness, but they may also have a complex secondary diagnosis, including a personality disorder.

    Job Summary

    To provide a strategic overview of the Mental Health Act. To be responsible for taking a lead on planning, communication and correct implementation of the Act across Cygnet Salford Lodge site to provide line management to the Mental Health Act administrators.

    Your Day-to-Day…

    • To consider new legislation, guidance or case law in relation to the Act and consider how this may impact on future policy and practice.           
    • To ensure that clinicians produce requested reports and documentation in a timely manner.
    • To ensure that patient rights are protected at all times, by having systems in place that ensure appeals are heard in a timely manner and that all patients are aware of their legal rights under the MHA.
    • To develop excellent communication links with relevant agencies external to the hospital.
    • To take a lead in the management and monitoring of all practice, together with the development of good practice, in relation to the Mental Health Act, The Human Rights Act. The Mental Capacity Act, DoLs and any other associated legislation, case law and government departmental guidance that may be existent or developed.
    • To ensure adequate operational administrative systems put in place are adhered too, to support the implementation of the Act.
    • To ensure that MHA administrators are well briefed and adequately prepared for patient appeals and reviews.
    • Hear disciplinary or grievance hearings as requested and in accordance with company policy.
    • Ensure all the post-holder’s employees are up to date with developments within the company.

    Other Duties:

    • Attend meetings, both internal and external, as required.
    • Assist in contract monitoring exercises.
    • Any other reasonable request.

    Requirements-

    Previous experience in a similar role
    In depth knowledge of mental health act, excellent administration skills and knowledge
    Experience in a similar health care setting
    Excellent Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983
    Experience of dealing with a range of sensitive and confidential issues
