    About role:

    We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to work within our high dependency complex care services for adults with learning disabilities, associated complex needs and who may have behaviours that challenge. The successful post holder role will work alongside a qualified SLT supporting 2 high dependency complex care services; Cygnet Cedars and Cygnet Elms.  

    Cygnet Cedars is a 24-bed high dependency complex care service for men aged 18+ (37 Broadway Avenue, Birmingham, B9 5LY)


    Cygnet Elms is a 10 bedded high dependency complex care service for women aged 18+ (162-164 Streetly Road, Birmingham, B23 7BD)

    Job Role

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and interested individual to work as part of the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team. The successful post holder will have a base of Cygnet Cedars but workload will be spread across Cygnet Cedars and Cygnet Elms. This post will combine clinical and administrative support roles: you will be working directly with individual service users or groups to deliver therapy programmes, under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), supporting SLTs in assessment of service user’s communication skills, reporting on progress, providing support with resources for individuals and contributing to the development of the total communication environment.  You will receive regular supervision and, as part of the SLT service, be eligible for training. 

     

    Candidate Profile

    It is essential to be shortlisted for this role, you must submit a supporting statement or cover letter outlining:

    you demonstrate an genuine interest in speech, language and communication needs.
    you have experience of working with young people/adults with autism, learning disabilities and/or behaviour that challenges or within a health or social care setting.
    You are able to competently use computers and a range of software i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer.
    You demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team.
    You are able to take instruction from other and seek clarification where required to complete a task.
