  • Cygnet Lodge Salford is our new 24 bed high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for women. The service supports individuals with a primary diagnosis of mental illness, but they may also have a complex secondary diagnosis, including a personality disorder. This new service is opening in January 2020 and referrals are now being accepted.

    We require a band 5 occupational therapists to join our Occupational Therapy Team at Cygnet Hospital Salford Lodge. The individual will have experience of providing standardised assessments and of planning, delivering and evaluating evidence based OT interventions. Knowledge of the Recovery Approaches and Model of Human Occupation is essential, while experience of working with service users in a secure environment is desirable. The successful candidates will be conscientious, caring and efficient and will be excellent team players.

    In this role you will:

    Effectively manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
    Work closely with the Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary teams and with relevant external agencies.
    Provide leadership to junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.
    Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services, holding responsibility for defined projects.
    Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy service at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke.
    Supervise student Occupational Therapists on practice placement.

     

    The Successful Candidate 

    • Must have a Degree / Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy and registration with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and be a member of the RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy)

    • Is currently operating as a Band 5, however newly qualified OTs will also be considered

    • Must have a thorough understanding of Occupational Therapy process

    • Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

    • Must have excellent communication and time management skills

    Experience in the field of adult mental health and/or acute inpatient mental health is desirable

    Requirements:
    The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
