  • Cygnet Health Care have been providing a national network of high quality specialist mental health services for more than 30 years.

    Broughton Lodge is a 20 bed specialist residential service for adults with autism and who may present with behaviours that challenge. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and effective care environment for those in our care, promoting independence and community integration.

    We are looking for a professional, ambitious and confident senior support worker who is able to lead on shifts and assist the Unit Manager in the day to day management of the home, including management of staff and rotas, administration tasks and providing support to people who live at the service.

    Please not this role will be initially for a 1 year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave with possibilty of being extended.

    Your Day-to-Day…

    You’ll be working 42 hours a week on a rota basis in a residential setting with adults with autism and challenging behaviours.

    • Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all our service users, patients & residents
    • Take the lead on shifts and support unit manager run shifts
    •  Undertake formal supervision of support workers and support induction for new workers
    •  Provide guidance and encouragement through physical & emotional support
    • Learn about individuals’ specific needs & provide help in the most appropriate way
    • Assist residents with medical, hygiene and welfare needs and complete relevant administration and reports as required regarding medication or safeguarding
    • Safeguard residents
    • Work alongside multi-disciplinary professionals such a psychology, psychiatry and occupational therapy

    • Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to be a good team player
    • An excellent communicator and a good team player
    • Sensitive and intuitive with the energy required to provide a trusting, stimulating & varied environment
    • Helping to empower & support service user independence.
    • Flexible to work 12 hour shift patterns on a rota basis
    • NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a relevant care setting is preferable but not essential
    • Driving licence and own transport is essential due to rural location of home and lack of public transport
