    Cygnet Health Care require a Band 6 or 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy Team at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke. This The Lodge ward (womens high dependency inpatient unit) and Nash Ward (Male PICU)

    3. The OT team works closely with the psychology and nursing teams to deliver the best multi-disciplinary service.

    4. Kewstoke is a hospital with a wide range of mental health wards, including PICU, Acute, Personality Disorder, secure services (NHS England-funded) and rehab.  It has a great pathway for patients.

    This post is likely to be on the Lodge (Female Mental Health rehab) which is on the hospital site but not in the main building.  The focus is on integrating patients back into the community, and developing life skills for independent living.

    5. There is a strong Recovery College and strong links with our Expert by Experience team in Cygnet. 

    The individual will have experience of standardised assessments and of planning, delivering and evaluating evidence based OT interventions. Knowledge of the Recovery Approaches and Model of Human Occupation is essential, while experience of working with service users in a secure environment is desirable. The successful candidates will be conscientious, caring and efficient and will be excellent team players.

    In this role you will:

    Effectively manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

    Work closely with the Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary teams and with relevant external agencies.
    Provide leadership to junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.

    Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services, holding responsibility for defined projects.
    Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy service at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke.
    Supervise student Occupational Therapists on practice placement.
    This will involve taking a senior role within a team of OTs and OT support staff, with enthusiasm and a drive towards innovative practice.  It includes holding a clinical caseload with supervisory responsibilities. 


    You will have...

    A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
    Registration with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy)
    Currently working as a Band 6/7 OT level
    Experience in the field of adult mental health and/or acute inpatient mental health is desirable
    An understanding of Occupational Therapy process and interventions in a mental health care inpatient setting
    The ability to work independently and as part of an inter-disciplinary team
    Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
    Must have excellent and time management skills
