  • Are you an experienced Forensic/ Clinical / Counselling Psychologist looking for a new challenge? 

    The Opportunity...

    Cygnet Lodge Salford is our new 24 bed high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for women. The service supports individuals with a primary diagnosis of mental illness, but they may also have a complex secondary diagnosis, including a personality disorder. The role of the psychologist will be to support clients/residents within Cygnet Lodge in terms of assisting them to understand, prevent and/or ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and so improve the mental health and wellbeing of service users. To work as part of an MDT of clinicians and support staff, providing psychological assessments and treatment/therapy as part of a care programme approach as well as working systemically with the team around the person to best meet their needs.  

    The post holder will also have a clinical case load and be expected to work systemically with staff as well as directly with clients. You will provide consultation about the psychological care of the client group to staff, families and other agencies and have experience of working with clients who present with personality disorder and mental illness. This should include experience of undertaking recognised assessments, formulating and implementing plans for psychological treatment based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems. 

    The post-holder will have a key role in the training and clinical supervision of trainee/assistant psychologists, as well as volunteers and psychology trainees/students on site. You will also have the opportunity to provide training to other professionals and to engage in consultancy, research and service development.

    As a member of the psychology team, there will be considerable opportunity for further professional development through access to training and various CPD activities/events and research

    We are looking for people who have...

    HCPC Registration in Forensic/ Clinical or Counselling Psychology
    Experience of working with adult client groups with personality disorder/mental health difficulties.
    Knowledge and experience of psychological assessment and formulation as well as planning and delivering psychological interventions
    Experience of various risk assessments and psychological therapies
    Training and supervision experience is desirable
    The ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
