    Salary: £40,000pa FTE

    32 hours per week, over 4 days between Monday and Friday 09:00 – 17:00

    This is an exciting opportunity where the successful applicant will work across 3 of our Cygnet Autism South Services based in the Southampton and New Forest areas; Oakhurst Lodge, The Squirrels and Devon Lodge.

    The Squirrels and Oakhurst Lodge support up to 9 individuals in each home, with autism and challenging behaviours, and Devon Lodge has a total of 12 beds.

    These services are part of a group of 5 residential homes across Hampshire and Dorset, and offer specialist residential services, promoting independence and community integration where possible. Person-centred planning is at the heart of everything we do, based on the specific needs of the individuals in our care. Residents can build upon earlier learnt skills to achieve further independence, self-advocacy and confidence leading to better quality of life.

    The Opportunity...
    As a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist you will manage a caseload of 30 clients autonomously, but working closely alongside the support team at each home.  You should have an ability to model, coach and mentor staff in adapting their approaches to suit the individual need of each person.  Our aim is to maximise their potential and enable them to enjoy the best possible quality of life via the delivery of an evidence-based OT service. Team working is at the core of what we do, and you will work very closely with Speech and Language therapists, psychologists and a consultant psychiatrist, as well as activity coordinators and support staff. 
    You will have...

    A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy along with HCPC Registration
    Experience as a Senior / Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6 equivalent) or Highly Specialist (Band 7 equivalent)
    Experience working with a client population who presents with a diagnosis of Autism (ASD) / Learning Disability, along with complex needs and challenging behaviour, with the use of sensory strategies essential
    The ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
    Excellent communication / time management skills
    Driver essential due to community nature of the post (sites are not easily accessible via public transport

    Requirements
    The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
