  • We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our brand new female adult PICU ward at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green.

    Cygnet Hospital Godden Green also operates an integrated Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) with a DfE registered school, the Knole Development Centre. It is situated in the beautiful countryside of the Kent Weald, near Sevenoaks. The site in over an acre of its own grounds, helps the hospital provide a calm and therapeutic environment.

    The new female PICU ward will accept emergency and crisis admissions. Our aim is a short, rapid intervention to help clients regain a sense of control and order in their lives, so they can move to a less restrictive care setting and ultimately return home.


    Your Day-to-Day…
     

    The post-holder will have a key role in providing highly specialist psychological assessments, interpretation from psychological tests, semi-structured interviews, individual and group therapy. You will also consider potential risks and social needs of the client group, relevant to their diagnosis.

    You will provide a high quality psychology service to a range of clients on Castle Ward - a 12 bed female PICU service for emergency and crisis admissions. Our aim is a short, rapid intervention to help clients regain a sense of control and order in their lives, so they can move to a less restrictive care setting and ultimately return home. The service is delivered in a purpose-built therapeutic environment, where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery.

    This exciting opportunity will be working as part of an established interdisciplinary team comprising of; a Consultant Psychiatrist, a Specialty Doctor, an Occupational Therapist, Nurses and Health Care Support Workers. You will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge around the clinical area and provide consultation about the psychological care of the client group to staff, families and other agencies.

    As a HCPC Registered Psychologist, you will have a pivotal role in the training and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Volunteers and Psychology Trainees/Students on site. You will also have involvement in audit, policy, service development along with the assessment and interpretation of outcomes.
     

    You will have…
     

    • A Doctorate Level Qualification (or equivalent) in Clinical or Forensic Psychology along with HCPC Registration
    • Experience with an adult mental health client group
    • Any experience in psychiatric intensive care units (PICU) is highly desirable
    • Experience within mental health and knowledge of psychological assessment, treatment and therapies
    • The ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
    • Training and supervision experience is desirable

    Requirements


    Contracted hours: up to 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday.

    Please note: successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
