  • We are seeking a flexible, energetic, and enthusiastic individual with excellent motivational skills to join our team at Cygnet Pindar House, new 22 bed Neuropsychiatric care and treatment facility opening in January 2020 for men affected by acquired brain injuries.

    It is a safe and secure place to aid recovery as well as offering those diagnosed with a progressive neurological disease, like Huntington’s disease, a caring and long term placement to support and help manage the progression of their symptoms

    The hospital is a modern purpose built facility that has been designed specifically to provide a clinically led evidence based neuropsychiatric pathway for those individuals presenting with behaviours that challenge. Our focus is to create a therapeutic rich environment which engages our service users and offers them the opportunity to minimise their challenging behaviour and maximise their independence.


    In this role you will:

    • Help patients to socialise within the Hospital, providing a variety of activities, which cater for all tastes
    • Assist patients in accessing activities and identifying needs.
    • Plan and implement five day rolling / individual programmes, as well as encouraging patients to maintain pre-existing hobbies after discussion with Occupational Therapist
    • To prepare and maintain appropriate materials for activities
    • Encourage Staff, relatives and friends to participate in the Hospital's activities and to arrange Hospital visits as appropriate
    • Deliver planned activities for patients under the direction of Occupational Therapy department and Multidisciplinary Team
    • Contribute ideas, create and facilitate events and activities safely and support people to structure their time through meaningful activity


    We are looking for someone who has:


    • A good understanding of mental health and learning disabilities
    • Effective communication skills, good organisations skills and a positive attitude
    • Experience of supporting service users with mental illness or learning disabilities
    • A relevant healthcare qualification


    • Knowledge of recovery approaches and social inclusion
    • Driving licence.
