  • We are looking for a dedicated, caring individual to join the company as an Honorary Assistant Psychologist. We offer excellent training and career progression opportunities as well as a variety of staff benefits. 

    Cygnet Aspen Clinic is a specialist service for women with a diagnosis of personality disorder and associated complex needs. We provide assessment, stabilisation, treatment and rehabilitation for up to 16 women.

    The post will be a minimum of 2 days per week (6 month minimum committment). We can offer up to £100 a month in expenses (mileage), a supportive work environment, weekly supervision, experience of working with a multidisciplinary team and CPD opportunities.

    The Opportunity:

    This is an opportunity for a psychology graduate with previous experience of working in a mental health setting to develop their skills in clinical areas. The post-holder will support the qualified clinical psychologists in various aspects of the inpatient work across the wards. This will involve patient assessment and intervention, multi-disciplinary liaison and involvement in other organisational activities. There will also be opportunities to be involved in co-facilitating training of other professionals under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist.  There is a strong focus on measurable outcomes and audits therefore the successful candidate will be expected to be proficient statistical analysis.

    • You will be working alongside a number of qualified Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and other allied health professionals within the Male ABI Service. 
    • Clinical supervision will be provided by senior psychologists and there will be training opportunities to support professional development.
    • You will facilitate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of psychology provision, as directed and under supervision by a qualified psychologist. You will utilise research skills to assist in audit, research and service development as directed.
    • You will contribute to psychological assessments of service users by working with and reporting to a qualified psychologists and the multi-disciplinary team, via appropriate verbal and written reports.
    • You will carry out psychological assessments, group and individual work with service users, under supervision, and to produce verbal and written feedback as required.
    • You will plan, implement and evaluate individual and group programmes in collaboration with other professionals, as directed and supervised by a qualified psychologist.
    • You will contribute to clinical formulation and to implement care plans for psychological treatment and/or management of a service user’s mental health problems, under supervision.A

    Are you the successful candidate we are looking for?

    • A good level (2:1 or above) BPS (British Psychological Society) Accredited Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (or equivalent)
    • Some experience within the healthcare sector
    • A Psychology Masters Qualification (or equivalent) is desirable
    • Previous experience in a paid/voluntary Assistant Psychologist role is desirable
    • A passion for learning and working as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Good communication skills
