  • We are looking to recruit a Band 6 / Specialist Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team at Cygnet Storthfield House in Alfreton, Derbyshire.

    Cygnet Storthfield House is a 22 bed hospital specialising in high dependency inpatient rehabilitation for men with mental health diagnosis. It provides state-of-the-art facilities and a multi-disciplinary treatment programme designed to assist service users with their return to independent living. Adjacent is 15 The Sycamores, a four bed step-down service for men who are ready to move to a more independent lifestyle.

    Our dedicated clinical teams provide a full multi-disciplinary programme that includes; occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatry and vocational training, offering service users the opportunities and support they need to stabilise their condition and enter society with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and optimism.

    Your Day-to-Day...

    • Manage a defined caseload of clients using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
    • Work closely with the Occupational Therapy team onsite
    • Complete full assessments of patients’ occupational performance including areas of self-care, productivity and leisure whilst utilising standardised and non-standardised tools
    • Implement core group and individual treatments to achieve therapeutic goals
    • Contribute to all aspects of risk assessment and management, within your clinical area
    • Evaluate and modify interventions, utilising appropriate outcome measures
    • To actively participate in and initiate the planning, development and evaluation of OT services, holding responsibility for defined projects

    You will have...

    • A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
    • Registration with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy)
    • Experience working in a Band 5 or Band 6 Occupational Therapist role 
    • Some experience working with a male mental health client group
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process and interventions in a mental health care inpatient setting
    • A 'hands on' approach
    • The ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

    Contracted hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday.

    Please note: successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
