  • We are currently recruiting a Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychologist to join our team at our CQC ‘Outstanding’ service, Cygnet Cedars.

    Cygnet Cedars in Bordesley Green Birmingham is a is a 24-bed high dependency complex care service for men with learning disabilities, associated complex needs and who may have behaviours that challenge.

    We accept emergency referrals and the team are experienced in managing them quickly and efficiently to ensure transition for service users is as smooth as possible. Within the hospital is a two bed step-down service, allowing for further community integration and focus on daily living skills.


    The Opportunity…

    The post-holder will have a key role in providing specialist psychological assessments, interpretation from psychological tests, semi-structured interviews, individual and group therapy to a range of clients at the service. You will also consider potential risks and social needs of the client group, relevant to their diagnosis.

    This role will be working as part of an established multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of; a Consultant Psychiatrist, an Occupational Therapist, a Speech and Language Therapist, Nurses and Health Care Support Workers. You will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge around the clinical area and provide consultation about the psychological care of the client group to staff, families and other agencies.

    As a HCPC Registered Psychologist, you will have a pivotal role in the training and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Volunteers and Psychology Trainees/Students on site. You will also have involvement in audit, policy, service development along with the assessment and interpretation of outcomes.


    You will have…
     

    A Doctorate Level Qualification (BPS route or equivalent) in Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychology along with HCPC Registration or be within 3 months of obtaining HCPC Registration.

    Experience with an adult learning disability client group along with knowledge/experience of psychological assessment, treatment and therapies.  

    The ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

    Training and supervision experience is desirable.

    Requirements

    Contracted hours: 24 per week (3 days) between Monday to Friday.

    Please note: successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
