    We are looking for a professional, ambitious and confident senior night support worker who is able to lead on shifts and assist the Unit Manager in the day to day management of the home, including management of staff and rotas, administration tasks and providing support to people who live at the service.

    Your Day-to-Day…

    You’ll be working 42 hours a week on a rota basis in a residential setting with adults with autism and who may present with behaviours that challenge.

    • Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all our service users, patients & residents
    • Take the lead on shifts and support unit manager run shifts
    •  Undertake formal supervision of support workers and support induction for new workers
    •  Provide guidance and encouragement through physical & emotional support
    • Learn about individuals’ specific needs & provide help in the most appropriate way
    • Assist residents with medical, hygiene and welfare needs and complete relevant administration and reports as required regarding medication or safeguarding
    • Safeguard residents
    • Maintain a safe and clean environment for all


    We're looking for people who have: 

    • Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to be a good team player
    • An excellent communicator and a good team player
    • Sensitive and intuitive with the energy required to provide a trusting, stimulating & varied environment
    • Helping to empower & support service user independence.
    • Flexible to work 12 hour shift patterns on a rota basis
    • NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a relevant care setting is preferable but not essential
    • Driving licence and own transport is essential due to rural location of home and lack of public transport

  • Broughton Lodge is a 20 bed specialist residential service for adults with autism and who may present with behaviours that challenge. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and effective care environment for those in our care, promoting independence and community integration.

    Broughton Lodge offers a four bed and two eight bed homes with independent living areas. Person-centred planning is at the heart of everything we do, based on the specific needs of the individuals in our care. We understand that consistency and continuity of care is important for the people we care for.

    As part of our care pathway, our service enables residents to build upon earlier learnt skills to achieve further independence, self-advocacy and confidence leading to better quality of life. Residents can gain skills through extended learning via accredited platforms such as ASDAN and OCR Skills for Life.

    Interventions are matched according to our residents’ needs and our life skills development programmes are overseen by our activity coordinators. The integrated MDT consists of occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychology and psychiatry. The team supports the development of daily living skills and reduction in maladaptive behaviours.

    Our staff use non-aversive positive approaches and are trained in MVA specialised behaviour interventions and sensory integration strategies. A combination of person-centred planning, measurement of progress and a full multidisciplinary approach can only result in the best outcomes for the people in our care.

    Resident profile:

    • Diagnosis of autism
    • Challenging behaviour
    • Communication challenges
    • Associated complex needs
    • Likely history of multiple exclusions and placement or family breakdowns
    • May have an ECHP (Education Healthcare Plan)
    • May be subjected to DoLS (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards) or Care Orders
