    Within your role you will undertake work that is meaningful to the people we support in our services and socially important within the local community. You will be responsible for the dietary meals for those in our care within the guidelines of care plans or service requirements. You will be a critical member of the team, ensuring people have healthy lifestyles. 

    In this role you will:

    • Liaise with the Hospital Manager when planning/costing menus in order to provide a balanced nutritious diet, making the best use of fresh foods, as available..
    • Prepare, cook and serve meals, hot and cold, as appropriate.
    • Provide special diets where necessary as well as taking into account the preferences of individual patients.
    • Be responsible for the washing up after meals and the overall cleaning of the kitchen and where appropriate the dining area.
    • Maintain an accurate record / list of food supplies, freezer temperatures requirements, etc. where requested / required.
    • Ensure statutory Health and Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.

     

    We are looking for people who have:

    • NVQ2 or equivalent or evidence of the same experience in catering
    • Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate
    • Knowledge of dietary requirements (ie Halal/diabetic/vegan)
    • Knowledge of nutrition
    • Essential - Experience of leading a team of people to support the running of the kitchen
    • Ability to plan nourishing and attractive menus within available budgets

    All successful applicants will be required to become a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) in respect of regulated work with protected adults and regulated work with children. A PVG certificate contains all unspent and certain spent conviction information. It also contains any other non-conviction information that the police or other

    government bodies think is relevant. Disclosure Scotland continually monitor PVG scheme members' records for vetting information including criminal convictions that may affect their suitability to work with vulnerable groups.

  • Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke provides an emergency admissions service for men and a pathway for women from low secure to rehabilitation including a specialist service for personality disorder.

    The hospital has more than 16 acres of landscaped grounds and overlooks the Bristol Channel. This beachside location, just outside Weston-super-Mare, helps us provide a quiet, peaceful and therapeutic environment which can offer service users a broad range of therapies including CAT, CBT, Schema Therapy, EMDR & DBT.

    The hospital provides 58 inpatient beds within a low secure setting, including a male PICU within the same secure perimeter. All bedrooms are single, with en-suite bathrooms, and each of the four wards has its own garden or terrace. There is a fully equipped gym and activities suite.

     

    This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
