    Cygnet Hospital Bury provides a wide range of inpatient mental health services for men and women including specialist deaf services and CAMHS provision for adolescents. Security levels range between medium secure to rehabilitation services.

    Role Summary:

    • To be visible on the ward as the Ward Manger.
    • To provide support to the Clinical Services Manager in the delivery of safe, effective care and treatment and the day to day management of clinical/professional issues in designated clinical areas.
    • Provide leadership, direction, support and supervision for the nursing team to achieve compliance with both professional and regulatory standards in accordance with any operational and strategic objectives.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Support  the  Line  Manager  in  the  management  of  the  nursing  service,  delegating responsibility to the Team Leaders as appropriate but retaining overall accountability
    • Monitor  all  nursing  care  practices,  procedures  and  treatments  to  ensure  they  reflect professional, national and local standards for the service
    • Weekly staff meetings; recorded and minutes sent to senior management and CEO
    • Ensure staff know the Cygnet ‘values’
    • Provide channels of communication through the Hospital through which nursing staff can contribute and receive information.
    • Maintain a professional knowledge and skills base using current research and evidence based approaches to care, acting as a resource to others.


    Qualifications

    • Diploma / Degree in Nursing
    • Registration with NMC (RN3/RNMH Mental Health Nurse Level 1, RN5 / RNLD Learning Disabilities Level 1)
    • Management specific qualification
    • Teaching and development specific qualification
    • Experience
    • Management responsibility within in-patient service – mental health
    • Management of adult low secure / forensic services
    • Management of rehabilitation / community services

    Each service user has a bedroom with en suite facilities and a range of communal spaces including a gym, laundry, occupational therapy kitchen, therapy garden and woodland walkways down to the Elton Reservoir.
