  • We are seeking a flexible, energetic, and enthusiastic individual with excellent motivational skills to join our team at Cygnet Manor, a high dependency complex care service for men with learning disabilities in Nottingham.

    Our psychology approach aims at replacing maladaptive behaviours with positive social interaction. As part of our preparation for core and advanced daily living skills, our occupational therapy led programmes facilitate education, vocational skills and social integration; facilities include spacious communal areas, garden with outside seating, art therapy room, Gym, Therapy kitchen and laundry service to support skills development.

    In this role you will:

    Help Patients to socialise within the Hospital, providing a variety of activities, which cater for all tastes. Assist patients in accessing activities and identifying needs. Plan and implement five day rolling / individual programmes, as well as encouraging Patients to maintain pre-existing hobbies after discussion with Occupational Therapist. To prepare and maintain appropriate materials for activities. Encourage Staff, Relatives and Friends to participate in the Hospital's activities and to arrange Hospital visits as appropriate. Deliver planned activities for patients under the direction of Occupational Therapy department and Multidisciplinary Team. Contribute ideas, create and facilitate events and activities safely and support people to structure their time through meaningful activity

    We are looking for someone who has:

    Essential:

    A good understanding of mental health and learning disabilities. Effective communication skills, good organisations skills and a positive attitude. Experience of supporting service users with mental illness or learning disabilities. A relevant healthcare qualification.

    Desirable:

    Knowledge of recovery approaches and social inclusion. Driving licence.

    Requirements:

    The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.

    A high dependency complex care service for men with learning disabilities, associated complex needs and who may have behaviours that challenge. We accept emergency referrals and the team are experienced in managing them quickly and efficiently to ensure transition for service users is as smooth as possible.

    We want the men in our care to make their own choices and live as independently as they are able to. To achieve this, our in-house MDT supports them with our myPath learning disability model, which offers a psychology, speech and language and occupational therapy led approach, alongside psychiatry and nursing.

    The Manor is rated an ‘Outstanding’ caring service by the CQC. With an overall score of ‘Good’.
