    Give your career a positive change with an exciting opportunity which has become available at Cygnet Hospital Derby for a Occupational Therapy Team Leader on our Alvaston Ward

    You will be supported on the Ward by a full time Occupational Therphy assistant who you will line manage and Weekend Therphy Assistants.

    The post is full time 40 hours a week and is temporary until 31st March 2020.

    Cygnet Hospital Derby provides low secure and mental health rehabilitation care based on the Recovery Model. Our integrated male care pathway includes Litchurch Ward, our low secure ward, and the Wyvern Unit, our mental health rehabilitation service. Alvaston Ward, our specialist female personality disorder service, is one of the leading services of its kind in the East and West Midlands and tit's where this role will be based.

    In this role you will:

    • To participate and complete within agreed timescales Induction, Probation, Appraisal meetings and exercises.?
    • To participate in and actively seek monthly Managerial and Clinical Supervision as per agreed supervision structure of Ward or Department. Any Disputes therein to be bought to attention of Ward or Department Manager at earliest opportunity.    
    • Identify treatment plans and administer treatment through therapeutic activities tailored to the needs/problems of the patients.
    • Complete full assessments of patients’ occupational performance including areas of self-care, productivity and leisure whilst utilising standardised and non-standardised tools
    • Implement core group and individual treatments to achieve therapeutic goals
    • Contribute to all aspects of risk assessment and management, within your clinical area
    • Evaluate and modify interventions, utilising appropriate outcome measures.

    We are looking for people who have:

    • A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
    • Registration with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy
    • Currently operating as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process and interventions
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • A good understanding of core Occupational Therapy skills and the motivation to keep up-to-date with current best practice in OT
    • Excellent communication / time management skills
