  • We are looking for a dedicated, caring individual to join the company as an Assistant Psychologist on a full time basis. We offer excellent training and career progression opportunities as well as a variety of staff benefits. 

    Cygnet Cedar Vale provides assessment and intervention for men living with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs. The team can support people who are detained under the Mental Health Act, as well as those who have behaviours perceived as challenging, or who have significant difficulties with social engagement. We accept emergency referrals and the team are experienced in managing them quickly and efficiently to ensure the transition for the service user is as smooth as possible.

    The post will be full time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.


    Job Role


    We are seeking an academically strong candidate to support and enhance the psychological care of service users within Cygnet Cedar Vale by assisting the Qualified Psychologist in the delivery and evaluation of Psychological Services that meet Cygnet Healthcare objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations.  To thereby help understand, prevent and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and improve mental health and wellbeing of clients. The role involves the administration, scoring and report writing of psychometric assessments, standardised risk assessments, clinical formulation, care plans and supervised individual and group interventions. You will be working alongside a number of health professionals within the Women’s service, and will provide verbal and written feedback as required

    Full induction training is given. You will be learning all the time through our on-going mentoring and support. Clinical supervision is an important part of development, which will be provided by a senior psychologist and there will be training opportunities to support professional development.

    Candidate Profile


    You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries and the importance of evidence-based interventions. You will have experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all you will be someone with a genuine desire to help others with excellent verbal and written skills. We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, previous experience within an Assistant Psychologist role and experience in female services is desirable but not essential.

    Candidates will need to have a full driving licence
