    An opportunity has become available for a Part Time Clinical Psychologist to join our established Psychology Department at Cygnet Lodge Kenton, comprising of Clinical Psychologists, Art Therapists as well as Assistant Psychologists and Psychology students.

     

    This role will be working 24 hours per week between Monday to Friday.

     

    Cygnet Lodge Kenton in North-West London, is a female mental health rehabilitation service which provides a care pathway for service users who are preparing to step down to community living. Our service provides a high level of support and uses a recovery focused model.

     

    The Opportunity


    The Psychologist will work within the step down service to support the women with borderline personality disorders, eating disorders, severe and enduring mental health problems, substance use and behavioural difficulties.

    You will provide a psychology service to clients on at the service to include; psychological assessments and highly specialist DBT, CBT, interpretation from psychological tests, semi-structured interviews, individual and group therapy.

    Within the department you will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge around the clinical area, and advise non-psychology staff on psychological principles and understanding of behaviours displayed by service users. Formulating and implementing psychological treatment, interventions and management plans as part of the care pathway are also key requirements. To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups including DBT, Substance Misuse interventions, insight work and CBT for psychosis.

    The post-holder will have a key role in the training and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists and Psychology Trainees/Students on site. To have an involvement in audit, policy, service development and the assessment and interpretation of outcomes is also required.

    As a member of the psychology department, there will be considerable opportunity for further professional development through access to various CPD activities/events and research.

     

    Are You The Successful Candidate We Are Looking For?

     

    • A HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist
    • Experience of working within the DBT and Recovery Approach in a mental health setting is essential
    • Experience or an interest in working in forensic mental health settings with females and a knowledge of psychodynamic or systemic theories would be an advantage
    • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexity
    • Knowledge of psychological assessment and formulation in healthcare, as well as planning and delivering psychological interventions to a similar client group is preferred
    • Ideally, experience of psychological therapies, risk assessment, training and supervision
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Up to date knowledge around various different psychological models applicable to this clinical population

    Requirements
