  • We are currently recruiting a Clinical / Forensic Psychologist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage.

    Cygnet Hospital Stevenage offers a range of secure mental health services for men and women in a purpose-built therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery. It is an 87 bedded hospital offering a range of therapies that support the care pathway towards independent living.

    The Opportunity…

    The post-holder will join our established therapy team and work closely with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist to provide a psychology service to a range of clients in a secure setting.

    This role will also be working as part of an MDT to include; Psychiatrists. Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers and Health Care Support Workers.

    You will be providing highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations to inform treatment planning; individual and group therapy. You will have support from an Assistant Psychologist on the ward.

    Within the MDT setting you will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge, and advise non-psychology staff on psychological principles and understanding of behaviours displayed by service users. In addition, you will be expected to formulate and implement psychological treatment, interventions and management plans for individual clients relating to their diagnosis and risks.

    The post-holder will have a key role in the training and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Volunteers and Psychology Trainees/Students on site. You will also have involvement in audit, policy, service development and the assessment and interpretation of outcomes.

    You will have…

    • A Doctorate Level Qualification (BPS or equivalent) in Clinical / Forensic Psychology along with HCPC Registration
    • Some experience working with adults with various mental health diagnosis is preferred
    • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health conditions, of varying severity and complexity
    • Knowledge of psychological assessment and formulation in healthcare, as well as planning and delivering psychological interventions
    • Experience of various psychological therapies/models and risk assessments
    • Training and supervision experience is desirable
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

    Contracted hours: 37.5, Monday to Friday.
