  • We are currently recruiting a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our Adult Autism Services South team.

    The role will be based at Oakhurst Lodge which is an 8 bed specialist residential service for adults with autism and who may present with behaviours that challenge. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and effective care environment for those in our care, promoting independence and community integration.

    The post-holder will be overseeing the 3 AP’s working at Amberwood Lodge, Nightingale, Devon Lodge, Squirrels and Oakhurst Lodge.


    The Opportunity…

    The post-holder will have a key role in providing highly specialist psychological assessments, interpretation from psychological tests, semi-structured interviews, individual and group therapy. You will also consider potential risks and social needs of the client group, relevant to their diagnosis and be focused on maximising positive outcomes and recovery.

    This role will be working as part of an established multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of; Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy and Health Care Support Workers. You will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge around the clinical area and provide consultation about the psychological care of the client group to staff, families and other agencies.

    As a HCPC Registered Psychologist, you will have a key role in the training and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Volunteers and Psychology Trainees/Students on site. You will also have involvement in audit, policy, service development along with the assessment and interpretation of outcomes.


    You will have…

    A Doctorate Level Qualification (BPS route or equivalent) in Clinical / Forensic Psychology along with HCPC Registration OR be within 3 months of obtaining HCPC Registration.

    Experience of working with a variety of adult client groups, ideally within learning disability, autism and challenging behaviours.

    Experience and knowledge of psychological assessment, treatment and therapies.

    The ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

    Training and supervision experience is desirable.

    Contracted hours: 16 per week (2 days) between Monday to Friday.

    The post holder will be required to travel at times between the various Autism sites in the Southampton area. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel.

    Please note: successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
