    A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist (Neuropsychiatry) to join our brand new service, Cygnet Acorn Lodge opening later this year.


    Cygnet Acorn Lodge is currently under construction with a completion date around November 2019. Cygnet Acorn Lodge is a 20 bed Neuropsychiatric service offering care and treatment to those affected by acquired brain injuries. It is a safe and secure place to aid recovery as well as offering those diagnosed with a progressive neurological disease, like Huntington’s disease, a caring and long term placement to support and help manage the progression of their symptoms.


    The hospital is a modern purpose built facility which has been designed specifically to provide a clinically led evidence based neuropsychiatric pathway for those individuals presenting with behaviours that challenge. Our focus is to create a therapeutic rich environment which engages our service users and offers them the opportunity to minimise their challenging behaviour and maximise their independence.


    The post holder will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the hospitals and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC and other relevant professional guidelines.  Moreover, the post holder will have responsibility for upholding the Company’s policies and procedures and protecting the Company’s interests as appropriate.

    In This Role You Will:


    • Have medical responsibility for the inpatients within the hospital, and have overall responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising with the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
    • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT); working collaboratively with Consultant Psychiatrists, Doctors, other AHPs on site NHS clinicians and commissioners who contract services from the hospital
    • To have daily handovers from the nursing staff as well as all other appropriate meetings including MDT meetings, CPA, NHSE CTR, Tribunals and Managers’ hearings meetings
    • Participate in the on-call rota


    Are You The Successful Candidate We Are Looking For?


    • Current experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist, GMC registration, Section 12 Approval and AC Status
    • Experience of working in Neuropsychiatry
    • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • MRCPsych or equivalent
    • In-depth knowledge of Mental Health Legislation
    • Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management principles
    • Proven record of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
    • Excellent communication skills



    The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
