Night Manager
We are looking for a professional, ambitious and confident Night Unit Manager at our Bury Hospital to provide effective management of a team, which involves motivating, coaching, managing performance and auditing the quality of care as well as ensuring a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our residents first.
Cygnet Hospital Bury provides a wide range of inpatient mental health services for men and women including specialist deaf services and CAMHS provision for adolescents.
In this role you will:
- Contribute to the development of the staff team working during the night shift by providing planned and unplanned Clinical Supervision sessions / De-briefs after incidents and ongoing monitoring / support with support from the Senior Nursing Team and HR.
- Efficiently manage resources across the hospital site in line with agreed staffing levels
- Ensure that the patients are involved as fully as possible in decisions affecting them and the running of the units, and to maximize their independence.
- Ensure patients are involved in the development of their Risk Assessments and Management Plans.
- Meet agreed standards to ensure effective patient care planning. You should audit that these are in place and completed regularly.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patients.
- Act as the clinical lead and be a good role model in an efficient, effective and professional manner.

- Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to be a good team player- Previous leadership and management experience is essential (min 1 year)

- Astute safeguarding practice and ability to make critical decisions
- A genuine desire to make a real difference in people’s lives - A strong, flexible mental aptitude and an ability to cope with the physical demands of the role

- Flexibility to work shift patterns including weekends and days

- Driving licence and own transport is desirable due to rural location of home and lack of public transport
- Demonstrable evidence of managing staff teams
You will have…
- Experience as a Registered Nurse (RMN / RNLD / Staff Nurse) with a current Pin Number
- The ability to delegate in a clinical management role or have worked as a Ward Manager or Deputy, Senior Nurse or Clinical Team Leader
- Compassion, resilience and excellent interpersonal skills
- The ability to maintain documentation and undertake audits
- A good understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 & latest nursing practices
- A commitment to patient recovery in order to effectively monitor, manage & reduce risk
- Dedication to empower & support service user independence
- Registered Mental Health Nurse / RMNs with interests in leadership, research & risk assessment are encouraged to apply.
