    Post: Band 5 Occupational Therapist

    Base: Cygnet Hospital Blackheath (Tyler Ward, PICU)

    Responsible for: The post holder will be the OT for Tyler Ward (PICU) and will lead the Tyler OT team with the support of the Deputy Head Occupational Therapist (the OT Team consists of your role and 1 x full time OT Technician). You will be responsible for supervising 2 x OT Technicians (Tyler Ward OTT and Meridian Ward OTT) with the support of the Deputy Head Occupational Therapist.

    Responsible to: Head OT (based at Cygnet Hospital Beckton) and Deputy Head OT (based at Cygnet Hospital Blackheath, who will be your Line Manager and Supervisor)

    Hours: 30 hours per week

    Location: London, SE10 8AD

    Overview of site/Ward: Tyler Ward (based within Cygnet Hospital Blackheath) is our male PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) of 14 beds plus a seclusion suite. The OT Team on Tyler Ward strives to improve service users’ wellbeing, reduce risk and facilitate individual return to optimal functioning to fully engage in their recovery. Tyler Ward offers evidenced based care to promote social inclusion and meaningful activities for individuals with complex needs.

    As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.
     

    In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user’s diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.

    The Successful Candidate should be/have:

    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
    • Has some experience in the field of inpatient adult mental health (either working in this field or had a placement)
    • Preferably working as a Band 5
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
    • Able to effectively lead a team with support from the Deputy Head OT
    • Excellent communication, organised and time management skills
    • Passionate about student education
    • Demonstrate confident IT skills

    Requirements
