    Post: Specialist (Band 6) Occupational Therapist

    Base: Cygnet Lodge Lewisham (Male Mental Health Rehabilitation) 17 beds.

    Responsible for: The post holder will lead the OT team at Cygnet Lodge Lewisham (the OT Team consists of your role and 2 x OT Technicians). Supervision of 2 x OT Technicians.

    Responsible to: Head OT (based at Cygnet Hospital Beckton) and Deputy Head OT (based at Cygnet Hospital Blackheath, who will be your Line Manager and Supervisor)

    Hours: 40 hours per week

    Location: London, SE13 6QZ

    Overview of site/Ward: Cygnet Lodge Lewisham is our male High Dependency Unit with 17 beds. The OT Team at the Lodge supports the recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated male care pathway at Cygnet. The Lodge offers evidenced based care to promote social inclusion and independent living skills for individuals with complex needs, such as offending behaviour and a range of mental health diagnoses. 

    As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.

    In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user’s diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.

    The Successful Candidate should be/have:

    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
    • Experienced in the field of adult mental health
    • Working as a Band 5 or Band 6 OT
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
    • Able to effectively lead a team with support from the Deputy Head OT
    • Excellent communication, organised and time management skills
    • Passionate about student education
    • Demonstrate confident IT skills
