    Post: Specialist (Band 6) Occupational Therapist

    Base: Lowry House (12 beds) and Woodrow House (9 beds), 21 beds in total.

    Responsible for: To post holder will provide quality occupational therapy services to residents in our care though evidenced based assessments and interventions, work as part of a MDT team, contribute to service development plans and complete reports, audits and clinical case notes to a high standard.

    Responsible to: Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and Service managers.

    Hours: 32 hours per week

     With over 150 OTs in the company, we also work together as a large team providing support to each other across the group, with various specialist interest groups to tap into, including Mental Health, Neuropsychiatry, Autism, Learning Disabilities and Sensory Integration, to name a few.

    Overview of site:

    Lowry House and Woodrow house are community specialist residential services that cares and provides individualised person centred care for people with Learning disabilities and complex challenging behaviours including mental illness and other co-morbid substance misuse or a forensic background, may have Autism or Asperger’s which might require highly structured environment to suit their needs.   

    As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of residents within the service.

    In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT intervention programme according to service user’s diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop intervention plans accordingly.

    The Successful Candidate should be/have:

    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
    • Experienced in the field of learning disabilities
    • Working as a Band 6 OT
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
    • Able to effectively contribute to the wider staff team
    • Excellent communication and time management skills
    • Passionate about student education
